Starting in the early 80s with the band Stryper, Christian Metal evolved out of the Christian community with a cleaner message. The genre really took off in the late 80s with the emergence of such great bands like; Deliverance, Mortification, Living Sacrifice, and many others. Christian Metal has had a reputation of not beating around the bush as to the message of Christianity. --ccpanel
