10:15 - 11:00 AM Primer on Licensing and Royalty Issues (15-minute presentation, followed by Q&A session) Rags has been deeply involved in discussions with RIAA, ASCAP, BMI & SESAC over the past few years, and has helped navigate Live365 through these tempestuous waters. In this presentation, Rags will provide an overview of the ever-changing issues surrounding licensing and royalties. BREAK
11:15 AM - 12:00 NOON The Future of the Internet Radio Industry Where are we going with all of this? David will discuss the future of mobile internet radio devices and those for the home, followed by hands-on demos of four different internet radio devices. 12:00 - 1:00 PM LUNCH BREAK
1:00 - 2:00 PM The Radio Revolution: Indie Music in the Age of Media Monopolies A panel discussion: The Internet is one of the last bastions of promotion and distribution for independent artists, and there are more tools available than ever to create and distribute independent music. Yet - despite these developments - mainstream media is becoming increasingly monopolized. How do we leverage the myriad of distribution tools and channels available? Will independent music ever surpass the mainstream channels we have now? Does it have to? What will it take? BREAK
2:10 - 3:10 PM Making Money With Internet Radio Find out how others are earning revenue with their Live365 stations and Web sites. Techniques for both PRO and Personal broadcasters will be covered. BREAK
3:20 - 4:20 PM [Tap tap] Is this thing on? Attracting (and Retaining) More Listeners What's the most effective ways to promote your station and build an audience? We'll cover station branding, listener polls, contests, newsletter ideas; PR for your station, and outreach for new listeners. BREAK 4:40 - 5:20 PM Breakout Sessions 1) Improving Your On-Air Voice Discussion Leader: Pat Matthews A former professional AM/FM announcer, Pat (username: jackallday) will lead a discussion on how to perfect your on-air delivery. He'll cover the importance of preparation, and various cures for the dreaded "diarrhea of the mouth" syndrome. 2) Using Bamman's Awesome Utilities Discussion Leader: Bob Mills Live365 broadcaster bamman will give a demonstration of the variety of utilities he's written, including SwitchLMode (broadcast mode switcher), RTL365 (relay track lister), SweeperSwitcher (sweeper rotation utility for Live365), CueM3U (M3U to LST Conversion Utility) and ExpTPR (to export Track Power Ratings) 3) glophone Demo Discussion Leader: Chris Petrovic Chris Petrovic - Vice President of Strategy and Business Development of theglobe.com - gives a demo of voiceglo’s glophone application – a browser-enabled web phone that allows you to talk to anyone anywhere anytime using your speakers and microphone.
