Contemporary Bluegrass is a genre derived from the roots of traditional Bluegrass. Today’s groups often keep the original Bluegrass sound made by a fiddle, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, but usually switch out the older upright bass for the electric bass. Although introduced to a more modern time, Contemporary Bluegrass still retains elements of its original genre and has reached a much broader audience over the years.
