In the 70s, Gospel began to rise with black church choirs (e.g. Aretha Franklin, Florida Mass Choir). After 1980, more solo and mass choirs artists come on the scene, adding a contemporary flavor to traditional gospel songs (Commissioned, Take Six, Andre Crouch). Contemporary Gospel quartets popular from 1940-today - tend to be male and four or five voices with a black country flavor. -miracle_works
