Configure Your Broadcast Tools
Now that you have your MP3s, all the broadcasting tools, and your IP address and Port Number you are just about ready to broadcast on Live365.com. This step will allow you to configure your broadcast tools to connect to Live365.com's audio servers. Also, you'll get to choose a music genre, a title for your broadcast and all that good stuff.
1. Setting Preferences
a. Open your Winamp player – you should have an icon on your desktop to open the program directly or it should be located in your Program Files folder. Once Winamp is open, press Control-P (i.e. the "Ctrl" key and the "P" key at the same time) to open the Preferences window.
b. Select the DSP/Effect Plug-ins category. You should see the SHOUTcast Source plug-in. Click once on the SHOUTcast plug-in to select it as shown above. (If you don't see it, then the plug-in hasn't been installed correctly. Try re-installing it.) The following window will open. Please note, this window may pop up behind the Winamp player so you may have to move windows around to find it on your desktop.
2. Selecting the SHOUTcast server
a. Press the "Edit" button next to Server in the SHOUTcast Source window. This window will open up:
c. In the "SHOUTcast Server" field, enter the IP address assigned when you signed up to broadcast. In the "Port" field, enter the Port Number assigned to you. The server password is the same as your Live365.com Member password.
d. The description will actually appear as the title of your broadcast so make it a good one!
Note: Limit your description to 80 characters or it will truncate on
the Live365.com directory. e. Set Genre to the type of music that you'll be broadcasting. To get a list of directory genres, click into our "Listen" tab for all genres. f. Set the URL to the Web page that you want associated with your Broadcast. Or just leave it blank. It's up to you. g. And finally, press the OK button. You'll now be back at this screen:
