Configuring Netscape for SoundJam
Note: Before you begin, we suggest that print out this tutorial for easy reference

Step 1: Check to make sure you have the correct version of Netscape Navigator

  1. To listen to Live365 radio broadcasts, you will need Netscape Navigator 4.51 or higher.

  2. To find out what version you currently have on your computer, click on the apple menu, and select About Communicator.

  3. You can upgrade your Netscape browser at: http://www.netscape.com/download/

Step 2: Set up SoundJam to work with Netscape

  1. To begin setting up SoundJam, open Netscape:

    1. Click on Edit
    2. Select Preferences

  2. When you click on Preferences, Preferences screen will appear (see below). When you see this screen, follow the instructions below:

    1. Find the Category window on the left side of the screen
    2. Under Category, find Navigator
    3. Under Navigator, select Applications
    4. Now, click on the New... button. This will take you to the Edit Type window.

Step 3: The Edit Type Window

  1. You are now at the Edit Type window. (see below). Enter the following information:

    1. Description: mpeg stream
    2. MIME Type: audio/x-scpls
    3. Suffixes: pls m3u

  2. Next in the Edit Type window, find the Handled by section.

    1. Check the Application button.
    2. Now, click the Choose... button

  3. After you click on Choose, the following new window will pop up. (see below)

    1. Locate and select SoundJam MP
    2. Click on Open

  4. You will now return to the Edit Type window. Your settings should now look like this (see below). To finish up:

    1. Find File Info at the bottom of the Edit Type screen.

      1. Under File Info, find File Type
      2. In the File Type menu, select MP3
      3. Uncheck Macintosh File
      4. Check Use this MIME type for outgoing attachments

    2. Click the OK button at the bottom of the page

    3. Then, click the OK button in the Preferences window

    Note: If you receive an error message that says "The specified MIME type already exists," follow these instructions.
