Studio365 (Windows®) Main Window
The purpose of this window is to enable robust MP3 maintenance and playlist editing while allowing access to station information editing and playlist cuing. The window has three sections (Station Information, Online Track Library, Current Playlist) allows access to four drop-down menus (Playlist, Track, Station, Tools and Help) as well as toolbar and right mouse menuing.

Main Window

Station Information Gives you real time data on your broadcast.

  • Status (info) - Indicates if you are on or off the air.
  • Current Listeners (info) - Tells you how many people are currently listening to your broadcast.
  • Now Playing (info) - Shows you which playlist is currently playing. Please note that even if a playlist is cued for play in the future, it may show up here a bit early.

Online Track Library

Lists all the MP3 files and their status that are in (or being uploaded to) the Online Track Library.

  • MB Used (info) - total number of megabytes that are being used for storing your MP3 files.
  • % Used (info) - percentage of total megabytes available for storage of MP3 files.
  • Show
    • All Files (radio button) - When selected, shows all files in the Online Track Library.
    • Best Files (radio button) - This will display only the files compatible with your current broadcast settings. That is, if your broadcast is set for "56K" (high quality), files ripped to 32 kbps will not show.
    • Unused (check box) - When selected, only shows those tracks that are of All Files or Best Files which are not in the Current Playlist.
  • No. of Tracks (info) - Total number of tracks in the Online Track Library.
  • Duration (info) - Total duration in hours:minutes:seconds of all files in the Online Track Library.
  • Playlist Box (embedded window) - Lists the tracks in the Online Track Library. Clicking on the column name will sort the list in ascending order. You may also adjust the width of the columns. The text color of the track is linked to the status of the track as follows:
    • Black (thin) / R - File is ready.
    • Black (thick) / R - File is ready and was uploaded in this session.
    • Blue / C - File is being converted.
    • Green / U - File is being uploaded.
    • Orange / Q - File is cuing for conversion and/or upload.
    • Gray / R - If the song is in ready mode and in the current playlist, it will show gray. However, if the track is in any other mode, it will show it in it's native color.
    • Red / X - File failed to upload. There may have been an internet/upload issue. Please remove and try again.

    Selecting a track and clicking the right mouse button will reveal the following menu:

    • Add to playlist (menu item) - Adds the selected song to the end of the current playlist
    • Upload new track... (menu item) - Launches the file selection box. You may select one or more MP3 files. You may also select a playlist file (M3U or PLS) to upload all songs in a given playlist.
    • Delete from Online Track Library (menu item) - Permanently deletes the MP3 file from your library. If you decide you want it back, you will need to upload it again.
    • Edit ID3 Tag... (menu item) - Launches the ID3 Tag Editor Window.
    • Find... (menu item) - Searches for a specific track via the Find In Library Window.
    • Select All... (menu item) - Selects all of the tracks on the Online Track Library.
  • Add to Playlist - Adds the track to the Current Playlist box.
  • Remove from playlist (menu item) - Removes the selected song from the current playlist

Current Playlist

Refers to the playlist that is open for editing. Note that this does not refer to the playlist that is now playing which is listed in the Station Information section of this window.

  • Playlist (drop-down) - List of playlists. Selecting a new playlist will load it's tracks into the playlist box.
  • Shuffle (check box) - Toggle shuffle mode on or off for this playlist.
  • No. of Tracks (info) - Total number of tracks in the current playlist.
  • Duration (info) - Total duration in hours:minutes:seconds of all tracks in the current playlist.
  • Playlist Box (embedded window) - lists the tracks in the current playlist. You may adjust the width of the columns. Selecting a track and clicking the right mouse button will reveal the following menu:

    • Find... (menu item) - Launches the Find in Playlist Window.
    • Edit ID3 Tag... (menu item) - Launches the ID3 Tag Editor Window.
    • Export playlist to CSV (menu item) - launches Note Pad or similar word processing program with your playlist in comma separated format for use in spreadsheets. Once this list is open, save it as a text file (.txt) by selecting "File" and "Save". If you like to manage or keep track of your playlists in Excel, Access or other spreadsheet software, this is an easy way to save your playlist as a .txt file for importing into your spreadsheet software. If you choose "Export playlist to CSV" without first opening/creating a playlist, you will get a blank page because there are no tracks to export to the text file. To fix this, close the blank page (do not save), open or create a playlist, and then try "Export playlist to CSV" again. For more information on importing/opening comma-separated text files into your spreadsheet software, please see your spreadsheet software's "help" information.
    • Print Playlist... (menu item) - Launches the print dialog box.
    • Randomize (menu item) - Reorders the playlist.
    • Select All... (menu item) - Selects all of the tracks on the Online Track Library.

Tool Bar Icons The tool bar icons are placed at the top of the main window to allow for easy execution of commonly used tasks. The tool bar is divided into four content areas (file, track, playlist and station).

File

  • Create new Playlist (Create new Playlist) - Clears the Current Playlist section of the main window to begin the creation of a new playlist.
  • Open existing Playlist... (Open existing Playlist...) - Shows list of your available playlists which may be opened and modified.
  • Save current Playlist (Save current Playlist) - Saves the playlist and uploads it to your account. If you like, feel free to go to Studio365 on the web and your should see the new playlist in the dropdown.
  • Save current Playlist as... (Save current Playlist as...) - Lets you save the current playlist with a new name and uploads it to the server.
  • Print Playlist (Print Playlist) - Launches print setup window for printing.

Track

  • Upload Track to Online Library (Upload Track to Online Library) - Launches file window from which you may select one or more files for upload.
  • Delete Track from Online Library (Delete Track from Online Library) - Deletes one or more selected tracks from your Online Track Library.
  • Edit ID3 Tag (Edit ID3 Tag) - Edits the ID3 tag of your MP3 file located on the server (will not effect files on your hard drive).
  • Find track in Online Track Library (Find text in Online Track Library) - Launches the find window for the track.

Playlist

  • Cue after current Playlist (Cue after current Playlist) - Causes your broadcast to start using the "Current Playlist" as displayed in the bottom part of the Studio365 window, but only when it is done with the existing playlist on the server.
  • Cue after current Track (Cue after current Track) - Cues current playlist after the song now playing.
  • Randomize (Randomize) - Reorders the playlist. Note that there is no undo for this function
  • Find track in current Playlist (Find text in current Playlist) - Launches the find window for the playlist.

Station

  • Restart broadcast (Restart broadcast) - Restarts the broadcast immediately however any current listeners may be dropped in the process.
  • Stop broadcast (Stop broadcast) - Turns off your broadcast server.
  • Edit station info... (Edit station info...) - Edit station information such as description, station URL, minimum connection speed, mono/stereo and genres.

Playlist Drop-down Menu

  • New... (Ctrl+N) - Clears the Current Playlist section of the Main Window to begin the creation of a new playlist.
  • Open... (Ctrl+O) - Shows a list of available playlists which may be opened for modifying.
  • Close - Clears the Current Playlist section of the Main Window.
  • Save (Ctrl+S) - Saves current playlist and uploads it to the server.
  • Save as... - Lets you save the current playlist with a new name and uploads it to the server.
  • Delete - Deletes the current playlist.
  • Restore... - Overwrites current playlist with your backup playlist.
  • Export to CSV - Launches Note Pad (or application associated with file type) with data in comma separated format for use in spreadsheets.
  • ID3 Tags
    • Edit Local Track... - Allows you to edit the ID3 tag of a file stored locally.
    • Edit Remote Track... - Allows you to edit the ID3 tag of a selected file in the Online Track Library.
  • Print... (Ctrl+P) - Launches print setup window for printing.
  • Randomize Tracks - Reorders the playlist.
  • Shuffle Tracks - Toggle shuffle mode on or off for this playlist.
  • Cue after current Track - Cues current playlist after the playlist now playing.

  • Select All (Ctrl+A) - Selects all of the tracks in the current playlist.
  • Playlist Sorting - When switched on, you may sort the playlist window in the same way the library window is sorted, that is, by clicking on any one of the column titles. The currently sorted column will have an asterisk “*”. When you want to see the true order of your playlist, turn off the sort feature.
  • Move - Move tracks up one (Ctrl+U) or down one (Ctrl+D).
  • Exit - Exit Studio365 (Windows®).

Track Drop-down Menu

  • Upload to Online Track Library - Launches file window from which you may select one or more files for uploading.
  • Delete from Online Track Library - Permanently deletes one or more selected tracks from your Online Track Library.
  • Select all - Selects all the tracks in the Online Track Library box.
  • Add to Playlist... - Adds selected track or tracks to the end of the playlist in the Current Playlist box.
  • Remove from Playlist - Remove selected files from the Current Playlist.
  • ID3 Tags
    • Auto Verify - Flags any files missing ID3 tags automatically as you add them to the Track Library.
    • Edit Local Track... - Allows you to edit the ID3 tag of a file stored locally.
    • Edit Remote Track... - Allows you to edit the ID3 tag of a selected file in the Online Track Library.
  • Find in Online Track Library... - Launches the Find in Library Window.
  • Find in Playlist... - Launches the Find in Playlist Window.
  • Export to CSV - Launches Note Pad (or application associated with file type) with data in comma separated format for use in spreadsheets.
  • Add new files - Adds any files that you have just uploaded.

Station Drop-down Menu

  • Update Information... - Edit station information such as description, station URL, minimum connection speed, mono/stereo and genres.
  • Switch Accounts... - permits you to login to a different account.
  • Start broadcast - Starts the broadcast.
  • Stop broadcast - Stops the broadcast.
  • Station IDs... - Launches the Station IDs Window.

Tools Drop-down Menu

  • FTP Transfer Mode - Toggle between active and passive FTP modes.
  • Normalize Tracks... - Selected default renders 93dB on track upload (same level as audio ads played on Live365).
  • Playlists Page - Launches playlist page in your default web browser. Note: if you make and save any changes to the playlists page online be sure to Sync Playlists (see menu item below). Failure to Sync Playlists may result in loss of saved changes.
  • Minimize Warnings - For advanced users, removes many of the "are you sure?" warnings. This is handy if your are uploading large quantities of files at the same time, and want it to continue in spite of possible errors. You can then use the log file to see if any upload and conversion errors have occured.
  • Send Message - Insert a short text message of your choice your stations' player window.
  • Show Log file... - See all the activity between Studio365 (Windows®) and the server.
  • Sync Playlists - Use this to be sure that Studio365 (Windows®) and Studio365 for Web are showing you the same information. This might be necessary if you ever need to use the web interface to make any changes to your broadcast and Studio365 for Web at the same time.
  • Set Temp Directory... - Sets the directory that the MP3 file conversion process will use.
  • Save Temp Files - A checkmark next to this listing means your converted files will be saved into the Temp Directory (see menu item above).

Help Drop-down Menu

  • Online Help... - Opens help for Studio365 (Windows®) in your default browser.
  • Online FAQ... - Opens the frequently asked questions for Studio365 (Windows®) in your default browser.
  • Online Quick Start... - Opens a quick start tutorial for Studio365 (Windows®) in your default browser.
  • Tech Support - Opens a form for submission in your default browser.
  • About Studio365... - Gives version numbers and build dates.
