New Server Technology puts Live365.com at Everyone's Fingertips
Foster City, California, December 8th, 1999 Live365.com, the leading source for the creation and broadcast of personal online radio stations, today announces the launch of NanoCasterTM. This new server technology allows the entire Web user community to access its industry-leading broadcast menu, which currently showcases over 1300 individual Internet radio stations. With the development of NanoCaster, Live365.com becomes compatible with Windows Media and Real G2 players, in addition to previously supported streaming MP3 players, and in many cases completely eliminates the need for an audio player download. No longer dependent on outside server technologies, Live365.com now becomes truly in charge of its own destiny, allowing listeners to utilize all major multimedia players and eliminating barriers to potential audience growth. At the same time, it offers broadcast capabilities to a broader universe of users. The Solaris-based, multi-threaded architecture of NanoCaster was developed entirely in-house by Live365.com. "Our recent technological developments have truly put us in the driver's seat in determining our success," said Peter Rothman, Chief Technical Officer for Live365.com. "By developing our own server technology that is tailored to our needs and those of our users, we are now enabled to both build our service and react to user input in a much more rapid and effective way. We are delighted to have developed this sophisticated system, and look forward to its long-reaching results." Live365.com is the leading online destination for individuals and performers to create, broadcast and listen to personal Internet radio stations. Providing the tools and bandwidth necessary to broadcast, Live365.com allows anyone with a computer to create their own "station" using personally selected content. The site has been lauded as a breakthrough product for unsigned or amateur musicians, bands, talk show hosts, comedians and general music lovers, and is quickly becoming a destination for agents and A & R executives seeking new talent. Live365.com launched in July 1999 and is headquartered in Foster City, California.
