Innovative Solution also Enables On-Demand Meetings and Messages from Local Government Web Site
Oakland, CA and Foster City, CA - CloudSource, Inc. and Live365, Inc. today announced the signing of a Strategic Partnering Agreement. The Agreement covers integration of Live365’s streaming audio technology with CloudSource’s technology for delivering Public Sector web sites as customized dynamic applications. This integration empowers Councils and Commissions to offer live audio broadcasts of meetings through their web sites and enables citizens to replay meetings “on demand”. During emergencies, Government organizations will also be able to broadcast emergency information and instructions over their Web Sites.
Under the terms of the agreement, CloudSource and Live365 will co-develop and produce a web
site application, currently called Meetings365, which merges Live365’s streaming audio technology
with CloudSource’s Agenda and Minutes Management web site application. CloudSource’s
customers will be able to insert this capability into their existing site as a “plug-and-play”
add-on. For organizations that manage their web sites internally or with another ASP,
CloudSource can work with the existing vendor to install and maintain an implementation of
this product.
“This technology increases awareness of community issues while meeting the challenge of making
public meetings easily accessible to all residents,'' says Burlingame, CA, City Clerk Ann
Musso. ``We are very happy to be the first to use this!'' Mike Spinelli, former mayor and councilman
with the City of Burlingame, adds “Meetings365 is a paperless 'on-demand' solution to staying
informed on government issues. Even residents unable to attend public meetings can now
become well versed in community matters.” Responsible for maintaining and distributing city
records, Musso reports that time to carry out these duties was minimized considerably since Burlingame incorporated
an early-release version of Meetings365 on its website: . What
once took 20 hours to do now takes a fraction of that time and frees her for other city work.
”Meetings365 is an application that will add a lot of value to Local Government web sites.
Similar to our Crime Statistics application introduced last year, it will help Local Governments
deliver on the vision of information sharing and preparedness for Homeland Security”, said
Michael Good, Executive Vice President of CloudSource. “Additionally, Councils and Commissions will
be able to broadcast meetings through their Web Sites and citizens will be able to replay ‘on-demand’
relevant portions of archived meetings. Our Live365 partnership is very strategic to us. Their
spirit and innovation is strong at all levels of their organization.”
“We had developed a Version 1 of Meetings365 early last year, but found that we needed a vertically-focused partner to integrate and make it successful”, said Raghav Gupta, Acting CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Live365. “CloudSource is positioned to quickly become the technology leader in providing Web Sites to the Public Sector, specifically Local Governments. Our two companies have come together at just the right time to deliver a solution that we feel will become the standard for Local Government Web Site broadcasts.”
The product is scheduled for General Availability on May 1. The final product name will be announced at that time. Contact a CloudSource representative for more information.
About CloudSource’s Web Site Applications for the Public Sector
CloudSource has provided Web Sites as supported applications since its inception in early 1998.
Their web sites are designed and assembled in a custom-configurable “building block” fashion to quickly
construct and publish fully functioning and supportable web sites. Customized content and graphics
are easily loaded into each application and can be edited at any time by the user through a set
of easy-to-use browser-based editing tools, called CloudPowersm. This approach also allows the
agency to start with a lower cost web site and then add modules/features at any time. Since no
custom software is developed, the client is assured of having a site that is supported and easily updated
at any time for content and technology. No other company is able to provide complete web sites and
web site applications in this way.
About Live365’s Audio Broadcast Technology for the Internet
Live365’s streaming audio solution enables the non-technical user to easily create and broadcast audio over
the Internet. Live365’s solution is fully hosted by Live365 - customers need not make capital expenditures
for software, servers, storage and bandwidth. Meetings365 is “platform independent” and uses the MP3
format so that anyone can listen. With Meetings365, the user, typically a City Clerk or other government
official, records the meeting using Live365 software on their laptop and a microphone, and enters ‘meta’
information such as date, time, place, etc. The user then uploads the files to their private account on
Live365 where they are stored and then accessible to the public via the Government’s Website on-demand and
are linked by agenda item.
