The music from legends like John Mayall, the early Rolling Stones, the original Yardbirds and many more were covering songs from the American blues men. They also got many of these old Delta and Chicago blues legends to perform with them on stage and in the studio in England.
These British performers always gave credit for their success to our American blues masters. Guitar greats like Eric Clapton and Peter Green played with John Mayall -- who, by the way, had an extensive collection of American blues and, being older than the musicians he played with, turned many of them on to the old blues.
