Somehow, I managed to talk to my dad into buying me my own drumset when I was in jr high. I started playing on a drumset on my lunch breaks at school. Not too long after, I rounded up a good friend of mine that played piano/keyboard and we would compose songs with my drumset and his “Korg” keyboard. We would stay up all hours of the night, till we felt like we finalized what we were looking for. I didn’t have a 4/8 track recorder, so I would record the keyboard first on a tape. Then playback the keyboard tape on a stereo while playing the drums and recording them together. It was medival, but it worked. I later rounded up another friend that played bass guitar. We formed a band when I was in high school named, “Out on the Inside”. We basically split up when we each went off to college in 1997. It wasn’t on negative terms or anything just the fact that we went off to different schools.
When I was in college I was asked, by a friend of my mom, if I was interested in dj’ing for a group at a local bar. I always kept up with the “Hot” radio and club remixes on my own anyway, so I figured why not give it a shot. They provided me with the equipment and I was soon on my way to saving up for my own equipment with the money I made from the bar. I dj’d at the bar for about 6 years. I used a computer to compilate some remixes of my own that I played at the club every once in a while. I would spend many hours, listening to the same thing over and over, perfecting mixes that I gave away as gifts during the holidays. I also started an internet radio station that I would broadcast on friday nights with only club music and underground remixes. There wasn’t anything like that on the regular radio at the time.
Now, I'm back and ready to do this even better and bigger than before! ;)
