I am a classic/straight-ahead/avant garde jazz fanatic and Vascualr and Interventional Radiology fellow physician at the Dotter Interventional Institute at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
I usually "push the envelope" as far as music is concerned. To keep fresh on the music scene, I routinely listen to streams featuring music in the downtempo, nu-jazz, and ambient genres.
Thank you for listening and supporting classic and straight-ahead jazz.
Happy sounds,

Favorite Artists
Bill Evans Trio
Simply my favorite jazz trio. Evans was a genius pianist who pushed the jazz trio form in new directions.
Grant Green
This guy rips on the guitar. His phrasing and technique is superb, yet I believe he is relatively less-well known and underrated that he deserved.
Los Hombres Calientes
What I consider one of the hottest new jazz groups playing today. Be sure to catch them live.
Esbjörn Svensson Trio
From Sweden, this trio is my new favorite for avant garde and fantastic jazz piano trio. Amazing.

Kind of Blue
I think this album fits my mood best most of the time. Relaxed, yet full of energy at the same time. A masterpiece for sure.

Sunday at the Village Vanguard
One of the best live albums of all time, this snapshot of a Bill Evans concert makes me nearly wish I had been born a decade earlier so that I could have seen him play live. The interplay between the trio is simply fantastic. Perfecto!

Time Out
A true classic, this album explores time signatures outside the usual 4/4 jazz standard. Each tune is in an odd meter, and some even swich meters beautifully within the same song! A must have for any true jazz enthusiast.
Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers

Moanin'
I bought this album only because I liked the song "Moanin'" so much. The rest of the album is fantastic as well, since it demonstrates Art's technical virtuostiy with the sticks. Full of energy!
