What's up y'all? Who am I? I'm a child of the 70's, and I was raised up on 70's funk, soul, jazz-fusion, and my daddy's Mississippi blues. I grew up in Milwaukee, WI, living in the Hillside projects. I remember alot of us bringing our AM/FM transistor radios to the playground, and we would tune it to the same station, and listen while we played basketball. Back then, black AM radio was what we listened to, until the sun went down and Milwaukee AM stations like WNOV & WAWA went off the air, then we would tune to WAWA-FM.
Some of my earliest memories was listening to my oldest brother Glenn's James Brown records, along with Sly and the Family Stone, Isley Brothers, Ohio Players, Parliament/Funkadelic, Kool & The Gang, and the list goes on. Much props and love to you Glenn. Thank you for all the wonderful music! I used to lay on the carpet between the speakers and just listen. I'm surprised I'm not deaf by now!
What's represented on my Funkology radio station is the funkiest of the funk, spanning 4 decades, leading up today, with independent label artists like Slapbak, and Beverlei Brown keepin' the funk alive.
Thanks for listening!
