I was born in 1953, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Too young to be a hippie, but very influenced by the scene and the music. Went to all the shows, Fillmore, Avalon, Altamont, Janis, Jimi, Cream... the rest. Workingman's Dead started pointing me towards the New Riders, Comm. Cody, then I got into Hank, George & Tammy, then fell hard into Bill Monroe, The Stanleys and bluegrass. Thru David Grisman, Beat Farmers, Blasters, Los Lobos, Brinsley Schwartz, Costello, The Clash and more. I've been in and out of radio. College Radio in the late 70's with KALX, a couple of the last good commercial stations(KTIM,KKCY), and now public radio, the last bastion of freedom, with KRCB. It's in Sonoma County, (an hour north of SF), where I've been on the air for over 13 years, doing a weekly show on Thursday nights called the Freight Train Boogie!
