A.C. Aaron Childs

A.C. Aaron Childs was born in Jackson in 1971, but grew up in near by Grass lake. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1990. Soon after, he moved to Fort Lauderdale and attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in hopes to persue a career in video production. Childs started his broadcasting career while still in college back in the early 90's in Fort Lauderdale at WSRF/SHE. His claim to fame was being the first commercial radio DJ to play Marylin Manson and The Spooky Kids (they later dropped 'The Spooky Kids' from their band name, and the rest is history). Moving back to Jackson, Michigan, A.C. spent several years at local radio stations such as WKHM and WJKN before starting up the pirate radio station "Free Radio Prison City FIXX 96" on 95.9 FM in the mid 90's. Known as 'Xmas Scotty' A.C. built a reputation for outlandish antics and enjoyed a cult following while keeping one step ahead of both local and federal authorities. Keeping his feet in legitimate broadcasting, A.C. hosted a show on WCSR in Hillsdale, called The Audio Realm that featured indie music from all around the world. In 2000, A.C. started The Sonic Chronicles on www.NWEZ.net. Soon after the station became Alternative.nu, A.C. was lured away by the world famous M4 Radio.com, where he enjoyed the hieght of his popularity. With M4 Radio.com on hiatus and it's future uncertain, Childs ventured out on his own and formed Free Radio Jackson. Free Radio Jackson was, in Childs' eye, the next logical extension of his old pirate radio station, although some of the antics and politics were watered down in an attempt to be considedred more legitimate in the community. After taking a year long break for personal reasons, Childs re-launched Free Radio Jackson. Childs' goal is to make Free Radio Jackson more Jackson oriented this time around: promoting concerts and events, plus discussing issues and news that affect Jackson and the outlying communities in the most non-biased manner possible. Childs currently resides in Jackson with his wife Kim. Besides Free Radio Jackson, Childs works full time at a local factory. His hobbies include photography, local history, libertarian politics, waching his favorite sports teams (Boston Red Sox, University of Michigan football, Detroit Lions, Manchester United Soccer, and Calgary Flames), playing fantasy football, ham radio, collecting CD's, and his solo music project.
