I am a graduate student studying to become a youth pastor and church planter. Going to school in Kansas City but live in Pittsburg working at the Pitt State United Methodist Campus Ministry (Gorilla Wesley) as an associate pastor. We orignally started the station as a show on the univeristy student run radio station. We have had such a great response that we believed along with my friend Kyle Baugh and many other friend in bands and in the community that we have been put in a postition to make a real impact on our listeners if we allowed them to listen 24/7. So that is what we are partly hoping to do. What we are really hoping to do is reach everyone with a postive message be it straigh edge. No drugs, alchol, or promiscus sex. Though are real love is Christ and his redemptive power that is why is called x Redemption Radio x. We are straight edge and believe the power of christ can restore your life not matter what postion you may be in. We are legalism free which means we do not believe there is a ceratin way to be a chrstian there is just belief and a relationship with the savior of the world. It does not matter what clothes you wear, what music you listen, what culture you are from, what traditions you follow, what you have done, or what you will do. We are unfied by christ for the same mission to change the world for his glory. We do understand that all may not be receptive to this message and no one should blindy follow what we say or believe. Instead, one should investigate what they believe what is in the Bible by exerpeincing christ themsevles and reading the word on their own. I do what I do because I grew up in the church and was never challenged and thought I was alone when I liked heavier music. I found out there are many out there just like me and it is possible to like metal and punk while being a christain. I used to be like everyone else I was once a pothead who liked to drink and have sex as much as possible. Through Christ though I have found new life and want to pass on this chance to everyone. I do what I do because I love metal, people, and Christ that is it why else would I do this.
