What a blast it was to host the original Higher Power show! In the early 80's we rocked Kentuckiana every weeknight for nearly three years on WXLN FM-104 in Louisville, KY. Higher Power led the ratings at WXLN as Christian rock was gaining new momentum from mainstream artists like Kansas, U2 and Bob Dylan. It was my finest radio adventure ever in 30+ years as a working broadcaster, and now Higher Power is back on the air! Be sure to check out the official Higher Power website at www.higherpowerrock.com to hear vintage Higher Power artist interviews, airchecks & new monthly artist profiles. MAY 2013 IS OUR FINAL MONTH ON LIVE 365! THANKS TO ALL OUR LISTENERS DURING THE LAST 3 YEARS! IT'S BEEN A BLAST! -Rick Sparks
Favorite Artists

Bob Dylan
Unique American music legend: philosopher, poet, prophet. He risked the hostility of fans & critics in the early 80's w. his 4 gospel albums, now considered some of his best work.

Kansas/AD
Kansas founder Kerry Livgren strongly reflected his Christian faith in the band's final 3 albums. One of America's finest progressive rock bands and a staple of classic rock radio.

DeGarmo & Key
Best friends in a Memphis high school who founded & led one of the best & longest-lived Christian pop/rock bands. Great mix of blues, jazz & southern rock influences.

Rick Cua
Bass player w. the Outlaws who wrote, played & sang great 80's Christian arena rock anthems that inspired a generation of teens.

Joe English
Paul McCartney's drummer in Wings whose Christian pop/rock topped the charts in the early '80s.

Favorite Albums

Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming
Dylan's Christian coming-out in '79, recorded in Muscle Shoals & produced by R&B masters Jerry Wexler & Barry Beckett. Hot guitar from Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and great performances & lyrics from Dylan.

Kerry Livgren - Seeds Of Change
Kerry Livgren's first solo album (1980) after his conversion to Christianity. Masterful classic rock album by the founder & leader of Kansas.

Phil Keaggy - How The West Was One
Virtuoso guitarist singing & playing one great song after another on a classic live 1977 album.

Petra - Never Say Die
The 1981 album that launched Petra into the stratosphere of Christian rock.

Ed Raetzloff - It Took A Long Time To Get To You
Southern rocker blows away the Christian music establishment in 1981 w. a gritty, authentic album of great Christian southern rock. Killer guitar from Dave Perkins.
