I'm a guitarist and songwriter in an independent band from Atlanta called What The...? Recently, I've also joined another of my favorite Atlanta bands, Orange Hat. Radio KIRA was born when my Siberian Husky, Kira, unexpectedly fell ill and passed away at the age of 5, on November 14, 2003. Kira was known and loved by everyone in the Atlanta music scene, and so my wonderful friends decided to put together a benefit/memorial show for Kira as well as a compilation CD. The show and the CD were so successful that the bands who participated decided to start a radio station and share our great little scene with the world.

Favorite Artists

The Beatles
The Beatles are Ground Zero for the Radio KIRA collective, and the reason we're all here. If we have to explain, you'd best move on to some other station.

The Rolling Stones
Several of us worship at the Church of Keith Richards. The Stones wrote the blueprint for how to be a rock band.

The Who
The seminal power pop band! They combined epic, melodic songwriting with the most high energy musicianship of any rock band ever. Nuff said.

Monty Python
George Harrison said he believed that whatever spirit had inhabited the Beatles moved on to inhabit Python. We would have to agree. We'd like to think at least a little of that inhabits our own little world, too.

Favorite Albums

The Beatles - Revolver
It's impossible to pick a favorite Beatles album, but if I had to, this would be it.

The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet
The impact of this record has never gone away no matter how many times I've heard it. Proves the Stones can be subtle and rock your socks off at the same time.

The Who - Tommy
Brilliantly showcases everything that was great about the Who - the melodies, the harmonies, the bombast, the simplicity, the raw energy and the subtlety.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Long After Dark
It didn't have much in the way of hit singles, or even sell very well. But I've worn out several copies of it. It just flat out rocks.

Richard and Linda Thompson - Pour Down Like Silver
This is the best album to listen to at 3 AM on a lonely night. Richard Thompson's songwriting is so life affirming that makes you feel perfectly sublime to be sad, as if it's all meant to be.
