Mad the DJ

From a secret locale, deep beneath the Earth's crust, Mad the DJ works tirelessly collecting Queen and related music. Lit only by the soft glow of his monitors, the DJ programs set-lists from his vast archives of Queen material...Then came the dark time...The DJ, faint from tireless work and weakened the onslaught of creative endeavours, dragged his battered frame from the console and made his slow crawl toward the place hibernation. Around him, lights winked out and terminals powered down, much as the DJ himself would do, closing the chamber and slipping into the velvet black fog of hibernation. Months followed and the world turned, unawared of the man in a sleep akin to comatose in the place all but black as night. And when his eyes at last blinked open and he set his gaze through the chamber's glass, he knew what had to be done and right quickly. The world needed Queen and just as they despaired the DJ's absence, he would return to broadcast anew. The time had come once again...

Favorite Albums

Queen - Queen II
Desert Island album 1: If you're reading this, you're a fan, so what else can I say about this magnificent piece of art? When's the DVD-A coming?

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
D.I. album 2: This album not only redefines classic rock, but directly inspired heavy metal, new age, industrial, progressive, and anything Bjork and Radiohead ever put to tape. Fantasical on the first listen and even better on repeat listenings.

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
D.I. album 3 : "No one is educated musically until they's heard 'Pet Sounds'...It is a total classic record that is unbeatable in many ways." -Sir Paul McCartney

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads
D.I. album 4: A dark, terrifying campfire ghost story of an album. If Edgar Allen Poe or Stephen King could compose with the skill of Bach and sing with the soul of Elvis, you come close to this album. Not for the faint of heart.

Holst - The Planets
D.I. album 5: Mars, The Bringer of War; Venus, the Bringer of Peace; Mercury, the Winged Messenger; Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age; Uranus, the Magician; Neptune, the Mystic...What else can I say? Well, don't go anywhere near a recording of Pluto! It ain't Holst, it's crap. Stick with the original seven suites, you won't regret it.
