Mike Roots

I am Mykal Roots (or Mike Roots if you like) and I am pleased to present the very first station on the internet featuring reggae with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone and foundation. Besides being a deejay here, I'm a volunteer deejay at a radio station where I host an hour of reggae music each week. I'm also a recording artist who has worked on numerous projects and am in the process of presenting my first solo album, to be titled "Freedom & Struggle". Since I let Jesus come into my heart there is direction, purpose and a clear-cut mission in my life. Music is a vital part- but just a part! If you'd like to know more about Jesus Christ and also have difficulties in your life for which you'd like assistance, please e-mail me. I don't care what your background is- I'll try my best to provide answers from JAH's Word (the Holy Bible) and include you in prayer. We must learn to utilize the tremendous power and love that we have through Jesus! Come mek we unite an discover how precious it is to be a child of the Everlasting Father. Come- claim your inheritance of spiritual riches and begin to walk in victory today, no matter the circumstances you may find yourself in.

Favorite Artists

Geneman
An excellent singer from the island of Bermuda. Authentic, dubwize roots and culture. His unique vocals bring to mind the very best of classic roots reggae singers, yet he clearly has his own style.

Stitchie
The multi-talented Governor can handle rapid-fire toasting and soulful singing with ease! What a joy to hear his latest release "real Power"! A living legend of the dancehall.

Blood Brotherz
Andrew G & Connie T compliment each other as well as any DJ duo I've heard. The gospel message is strong and their riddims are rock solid.

Change
Brilliant harmonies, tight musicianship and uncompromising message of truth make Change one of the better reggae outfits on the scene, seen? If you like R&B with your roots, then you'll love Change!

Ben Okafor
A voice of the common people, through poetic and musical artistry, Ben creates some of the most heartfelt music I've heard. His music combines reggae, folk, rock, soukous and juju- but mostly reggae. Check him out!

Favorite Albums

Ben Okafor - Nkiru
An outstanding collection of socially conscious and challenging songs, beautifully played with strong African, reggae, folk and rock influences. An incredible album that encourages, inpsires and takes you out of your comfort zone at the same time. Lots of acoustic flavours, Ben's great singing- should be a classic!

Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming
Highly underated 1979 release containing nine excellent songs filled with tasty guitar licks (courtesy Mark Knopfler), gospel-infused rock and tell-it-like-it-is lyrics. Very tastefully done- a classic!

Fred Hammond & Radical 4 Christ - Pages of Life: Chapters 1 & 2
Awesome mix of seventies style R&B, gorgeous harmonies, creative compostions and Fred Hammond's deep soul singing- all with an intimately delivered gospel message!

Junior Tucker - Brand New
Junior's first Christian reggae release offers a variety of styles and lyrical topics graced by his sweet tenor and excellent backing vocals. Great instrumentation along with a couple of really nice ballads. Spoken words of encouragment sprinkled throughout. Yeah, I'd want this one with me if I were stranded.

Change - Change
Why haven't more people heard of this group? This album should be a classic. R&B-styled harmonies, superb compositions and exquisite guitar work make this one of my favorites and I believe it always will be.
