This stream is based on my collection of salsa music of nearly 20 years. The playlist consists of artists such as El Gran Combo, Oscar D'Leon, Hector Lavoe, Bobby Valentin, Larry Harlow, Eddie Palmieri and other legends from the 70's, 80's through today. Also featured are notable Colombian salsa acts such as Grupo Niche, Grupo Gale, Los Niches and Sonora Carruseles. In the late evenings after 11PM and mornings at 10AM, the tempo is slowed a bit to feature some romantic and sensual classics of the "salsa erotica" era from the late 80's and early 90's with such artists as Eddie Santiago, Frankie Ruiz and Lalo Rodriguez. I hope you enjoy the collection and return to listen regularly. I am very particular in my musical preferences and spent substantial time identifying, locating and acquiring the tracks in this collection. As any collector of salsa music knows, it is not an easy task to get your hands on good salsa music because it's no longer a mainstream genre and therefore not played on the radio or sold in stores. Recently, the internet, the advent of (legal and illegal) file-sharing platforms and iTunes have greatly increased the availability of old libraries of salsa music that were previously nearly impossible to obtain. Now, collectors such as myself can share the type of classic salsa music that made this such a dominant and groundbreaking genre that was able to spread from its inceptions in Afro-Carribean culture in Cuba and Puerto Rico to the entire world. Please make sure to submit feedback with any requests for songs or playlists. I have thousands of salsa tracks but due to space limitations I am only able to add a fraction.
