RetroXana

Welcome to my home on Live365! This station provides an eclectic mix, including Classic and Smooth Jazz, Dance/Jams, and its flagship program, "Retro" favorites from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as well as off-beat comedy segments.

RX is also currently entertaining thoughts on weekday live broadcasts. If you have always wanted to be an Internet DJ and have a cool idea for a concept, please email me at retroxana@gmail.com to discuss it and a possible time slot!

I started with the Retro 80s Time Warp show on Friday nights, running from about 7:00 PM Mountain Time until I got tired and went to bed. As indicated, this is still my flagship show and has grown to deliver tunes and fun to a solid following since July 2003! We celebrated our sixth year on the air in July 2009 and have again printed a new set of bumper stickers to express our thanks to the dedicated listeners that keep it possible!

Count yourself among devoted fans from all corners of the globe over the years, including the USA, Canada, Australia, Chile, Germany, UK, Colombia, Azerbajan, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, and more. Thanks for making the RetroXana Time Warp one of your favorite places on the Net!

(WARNING: Some content may not be suitable for children under 17, especially during late-night hours! While I personally do not swear online, I cannot promise that certain content or lyrics will not. I do not censor artists, but do try to reserve more explicit music choices for later in the broadcast evening.)

The show is a live work in progress and therefore "always fresh, never frozen!" This means that I also take requests FIVE ways: Yahoo Instant Messenger to user 'xana_98', use the Shoutout! Instant Message BOX here on this site (which forwards to retroxana@gmail.com), a voice-over IP facility (Internet calling service) button below, Facebook Chat to a friend list there, and also on our new TinyChat room at http://www.tinychat.com/RetroXana (when available).

The way the VOIP Button works: In the US: Put in your OWN phone number, GrandCentral will call you back immediately to that phone, then will auto-connect you to the show through that same regular phone line, even though the call is actually being placed through the Internet. Cool, hm?

*********** Listener Comments ***********

"Charles Bernacchi (10/19/2007 9:15:44 PM): Where the hell else on terrestrial radio, satellite, or the internet are you going to hear a talent from Italy, something from the 80s, something from the 90s, the Lotion song, & a hillbilly cover song all in the same hour?"

We'd love to hear your thoughts and please be sure to RATE the songs and broadcast as you listen.

SHOW SCHEDULES:

WEEKDAY - UNDER CONSIDERATION - Email at retroxana@gmail.com with a concept and personality that you'd like to hear or put on the air! Come back during the weekday, as we may be broadcasting some Mellowness for your work day.

FRIDAYS - 7:00 PM MOUNTAIN - "RX Time Warp!"

Favorite Artists

Steely Dan
Such an eclectic mix of studio talent and great songwriting ... I cannot say enough about this generally-underrated selection of two founders and all the studio musicians who created an incredible catalogue of music that I still enjoy over and over again today. They raised the bar and few have reached it.

Level 42
Such an incredible range of talent, not only on singing and songwriting, but of creating timeless music, appropriate for any decade!

Barenaked Ladies
On just ONE of their albums, 'Gordon' (1992), they played EVERY style of music possible, showcasing their diversity of talent!

Genesis
They were called Progressive at the time; I called them outstanding in their depth and musicianship, with only 3 main members making so much music.

Stevie Wonder
A modern legend and incredible pop, rock, soul, Latin, and classical songwriter!! I could listen to him (and often do) for hours.

Favorite Albums

Steely Dan - Two Against Nature
The Dan's comeback album in 2000 is just as fresh as their groundbreaking work in the 70s. Can listen to this over and over and never be tired of it.

Stevie Wonder - Fulfillingness' First Finale
The entire album is outstanding and I often listen to it on repeat. Yeah, it's true.

Tower of Power - Back to Oakland
Amazing album, tight horn lines; go out and buy it - now!

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
There are two albums that came out in 1977 that for me have never grown old; "Rumours" is one, and Steely Dan's "Aja" is the other. Outstanding year from two talents who are legends in the R&R Hall of Fame.

Barenaked Ladies - Gordon
Their first album from 1992, "Gordon" showcases many different styles of this extremely talented and versatile group.
