I've been a musician since I was seven years old, playing the Celtic harp and a little piano. Since age nine Ive been a member of the Celtic band Distant Oaks (www.distantoaks.com), along with my brother Jared who plays bagpipes and whistles. But meanwhile Jared and I were also really into 80s synth music, particularly that of Enya, Genesis, Tangerine Dream, and others. In 1997 I decided to begin working on my own Electronic album titled The Opposite Way, which was finally released in 2003 (www.shaynesworld.com). Most of the Electronic music Ive listened to does not fit into the usual Dance/Techno/Ambient categories, so Jared and I started Melodious Synth to feature the more esoteric music we love. We really hope you enjoy our new station!
Favorite Artists
Tangerine Dream
The original synth band. Their music sparked a revolution back in the 70's. Their wonderful compositions are as fresh today as they were then, and they are still exploring new musical paths!
Jean-Michel Jarre
Also one of the classic composers who is still wonderful today. Jean makes no compromises anywhere!
Jonathan Stout/Campus Five
Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five is a retro 40's swing band from L.A. They are fantastic musicians and sound just like the legendary groups of yesteryear!
Distant Oaks
Distant Oaks is one of the best Celtic groups around! They have many different kinds of instruments that all sound quite beautiful, including some rather unusual ones.
Global Communication
Global Communication produced one album, 76:14, but it is one of the best ambient works I have ever heard.
Favorite Albums
Tangerine Dream

Poland
It was their last "Berlin-School"-type album, but it was one of the best ever. There are so many great themes in it.
Enya
-
Watermark
Enya's most classic album ever. I don't think she ever quite matched its brilliance again, although she has done many other wonderful works.
Jean-Michel Jarre
-
Equinoxe
I'd hate to single out any one of his albums because they're all awesome, but if I have to, then I guess I'd pick this one. I think I like it better than his previous debut album, "Oxygene."
atomicaradio
A wonderful, eclectic selection of compositions from Beethoven to Vangelis and everything in between!
Cool Links
CreamWare
CreamWare makes the hottest synths on the planet! Their DSP card "Scope" is a sophiscated I/O board as well as an effects rack and a modular synthesizer. Many of my sound sources in my music are generated by CreamWare!
