Tom Hoey

Tom first experienced the Theater by being in it. Pushed on stage and forced to enjoy the love of a large audience was traumatic by any standards. Of course, right off the bat he is cast in a substantial role in a Alan Jay Learner Musical. Unhappy that he must do the role to keep his (then) wife happy, he forced himself to be polite and studiously learned his lines and the music (surprise...he could sing...a little). And then came opening night. The first time a baby spot hit him. Wow. He mugged, he sang, he danced and he loved the audience. And they loved him back and the lifelong affair with the Broadway Musical began. Oh, sure. He was no star. No big toothy smile and no long dance legs. But, hey, he was there and that was what counted. A little stand-up comedy, then Disco and New Wave came along and he loved that too. Enough to become a club DJ for twenty years. Of course, there were a few Pageants, a lot of shows and plenty of MC'ing. Now retired Tom has not give up the theatre. He sits on a board of directors and creates and maintains the web sites for several theatrical companies. Oh yeah, he does a few shows every year...musicals, drama, comedy and loads of original and experimental plays and of course, the blogs...including the one you will definately want to visit. Platinum Broadway which is located at http://showpeople.typepad.com/platinumbroadway now in its 4th year reporting on the Legit community and Regional Theatrical productions.
