I first became interested in Old School Hip Hop back when it was new school! As a seven year old I "wore" out a breakdance tape in a boombox. Into the 90's I didn't care much for gangster rap, but still loved the rap of the 80's as well as popular music of that time. I have now expanded my interest to rap of the early 90's excluding the gangsta stuff, and back to the late 70's with the "cousins" of the Grandmaster Flashes's and Sugarhill Gangs. Rose Royce and the Barkays. A little bit of hip hop, old school rap, freestyle, and R@B. Just upbeat music with great energy to get you through the work day!
Favorite Artists

Beastie Boys
Licensed to ill. The album made it cool for white boys to rap.

Grandmaster Flash
The White Lines song was on a breakdance tape I had. I loved it!

Nucleus
Same as above.

Run-DMC
I was stay up all night trying to tape "walk this way" off the radio.

Boogie Down Productions
I normally don't play gangsta rap, but these guys, like Grandmaster Flash, rapped against violence, which it cool.
