My wife, Julie and I are called and blessed to be Salvation Army Officers. We presently serve in the Central United States as Administrators of the Adult Rehabilitation Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My earliest band training came from my own relatives in the Band Room of the Detroit Citadel Corps. My father conducted informal, but intense listening exercises from a pillow placed carefully between the speakers of our Zenith console. As an active N.A.B.B.A. member, I played Solo Tenor Horn with the prize winning Illinois Brass Band, before founding the Motor City Brass Band (www.mcbb.org) and other lesser known ensembles. I am presently working in the development stages of the West Michigan Brass Band (www.westmichiganbrassband.com). But at the end of the day, it is still the redeeming and restoring lyrics and harmonies ministered by The Salvation Army Band that proves most helpful in my spiritual pilgrimage. If you're blessed to be a part of such a group, send me your latest C.D. (complimentary of course) C/O Capt John Aren - The Salvation Army, ARC - 1491 S Division Avenue - Grand Rapids, MI 49507 - USA) and I'll share the blessing of our Army Music with the whole world. (We're growing quickly around the globe!!!)
