About typical genius

HEADONISM FOR BEGINNERS

Or, You Can't Spell Masses Sans Asses

Oh, sarcasm is as old-fashioned as sincerity and twice the effort, so let us be dull and honest and happy. Let us have faith in the charming denominators of ease and indulgence to rescue us from dancing to asymmetrical songs with left-handed rhythms, or standing a certain way at the listening kiosk, or recommending the worst of our music to the best of our friends -- or vice versa.

As Groucho Marx said in Duck Soup, what I'm trying to say is, I love you. And though I do try to be interesting, so do the boring folks, I presume. Bah. Let's dance or don't dance, sing or don't sing -- or verse vicea -- and so commingle truth and fiction, discovery and invention, idiocy and genius as to confuse ourselves into complete alertness, until the Bomb or time rains rack-ruin down on us all.

YOU HAVE A LOVELY VICE

If it isn’t abundantly clear in each every song and every each alliteration, I’m grateful so grateful to you unknown listeners for your continued patronage.

“This may all end tomorrow…!” Yes, too true, for the broadcaster rates will rise, and the seas will rise, and a general sort of apocalypse will take all the spontaneous joy out of life -- but until then, I’m thankful so thankful for the chance to play the music I love for others.

Send me an email, and tell me about your corner of life. Make it random, gentle, and slight.

Pop Eponymous -- Putting The Reason Back In Treason!, Since January 2002!

* * *

Neither commercial nor contrarian, POP EPONYMOUS features pop, indie pop, pop jazz, jazz rock, indie jazz, rock jazz, and every note by The Smiths -- but the point isn’t to wow you with eclecticism or shock you with wild shifts. Morrissey, after all, isn’t so far from Mingus, and overall there should be a kind of comfy pop cohesion to the station's mix.

Artists include The Smiths, Morrissey, The Shins, The Beautiful South, Beirut, R.E.M, Lotion, Acid House Kings, Shrag, Camera Obscura, Broken Social Scene, Ikara Colt, Jaga Jazzist, The Sundays, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Beulah, Koufax, Call and Response, I Was A Cub Scout, Kings of Convenience, Metric, Nina Simone, Phoenix, Heavenly, Club 8, Editors, Azure Ray, Doves, The Fall, Charlie Parker, Momus, Midnight Oil, Mew, Elliot Smith, The Decemberists, The Aislers Set, Cranes, Komeda, Shearwater, Head Like A Kite, Electrelane, Snow Patrol, The Clientele, The Deathray Davies, The Essex Green, The Heavy Blinkers, Elefant, Pony Up!, The Grates, The Joggers, Psapp, Spoon, Sprites, The Little Ones, The New Pornographers, The Ramones, The Rock*A*Teens, Sufjan Stevens, Thee More Shallows, The Positions, The Organ, The Radio Dept, Rilo Kiley, Paul Desmond, Sasha Bell, Lemon Jelly, Barcelona, Count Basie, The Cure, Velocity Girl, The Go-Betweens, Bessie Smith, The Judybats, Cyndi Lauper, Blake Babies, Chet Baker, The Anniversary, Suede, Squarepusher, Stephane Grappelli, Owsley, The Shortwave Set, Tokyo Police Club, Troubled Hubble, and Gene.
