I love music that is accessible & evocative. Bawdy, obnoxious, cheesy, melancholy . . . I like all kinds of music (especially if it makes me feel like dancing, crying, or singing along). Besides running this station, I'm also an indie pornographer (which is a lot geekier than it sounds). I think the music I like and the kind of porn I make share similar aesthetics (with the music being superior); I like music, images, and stories that are familiar yet provocative, reflective of real life and people and emotions, yet punched up a bit with magic, melodrama, a selective focus, and a bit of humour. I like rawness sugared with honest intimacy sprinkled with a taste of the fantastic.

Favorite Artists

Lucinda Williams
She's a genius of simplicity & unabashedly expresses the truest of human emotions.

Cowboy Junkies
This is the only band I've ever been bold enough to say with commitment, "they're my favorite band".

Chris Isaak
His first 3 albums are my faves - he's a great entertainer and his dark aesthetic is perfectly balanced by his funny personality.

Rose Polenzani
A new favorite of mine - genius lyrics, Amy-Ray-emotions.

Elvis
He's the king!

Favorite Albums

Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Session
It's spare, sad & perfect.

Dead Can Dance - Spiritchaser
Perfect from start to finish.

Indigo Girls - Indigo Girls
Must sing out loud.

Bonnie Raitt - The Bonnie Raitt Collection
Must sing out loud some more.

Traveling Wilburys - The Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 3
I *adore* this album; love it MUCH more than the 1st.

Favorite Broadcasters

spookytramp
I listen to Lathe of Heaven more than any other station. She presents an eclectic selection of artists, choosing songs with a consistent aesthetic quality.

yankaroo
Kingdom of Swing doesn't have cheesy elevator-music orchestrated covers of swing stuff -- the recordings are all gritty and good.

josephkees
Blue Monk provides evocative spoken word, jazz & raw sounds.

djock
Shag, Boogie & Bop is SO fun and raucous.
