iWineRadio: Wine, Food, Travel, Business Talk
Lynn Krielow Chamberlain started out as a pre-vet major. Along the way, a glass of Cold Duck, exposure to a wide variety of foods and nutrition, microbiology and chemistry classes collided to change the trajectory of her life. Her wine career began with a graduate degree in Food Processing and Technology from Ohio State University. She worked in an independent wine shop managing inventory and all in-house tastings and was able to parlay her experience into a sommelier position at the Columbus Hyatt. Wanting to learn about wine retail and service, she took a job in wine wholesale in Ohio, passed the Society of Wine Educators Certified Wine Educator exam on the first try and eventually moved to Arizona. In Arizona, she worked as the first wine columnist for the Arizona Republic (and Phoenix Gazette) and dining critic for Today's Arizona Magazine; she developed wine appreciation courses for the City of Scottsdale and Scottsdale Community College and also taught Beverage Management and Hospitality. Her radio career began in Arizona at a classical station and on USA Today SkyRadio with the introduction of Food Tastes Better With Wine, a short feature broadcast in 1994. Upon moving to the East Coast, she became a regular guest on a local talk radio station and soon began to host a weekly live show that lead to the creation of Wine & Dine Radio in 1999. The program subsequently went global in 2004 on iTunes Radio and Live365.com. She assumed responsibility for radio production in 2005. Other commercial terrestrial radio stations followed, as well as other internet radio distribution, including VinVillage Radio for VinVillage and WSRadio. In 2008 the Wine & Dine Radio name was changed to iWineRadio. In 2011, Chamberlain passed the Center for Wine Origins Wine Location Specialist exam “With Distinction.” Chamberlain’s audience is global. Sixty-five percent listen from the US, Canada, and South America, including all major wine-consuming markets; twenty-five percent from Asia, including Japan, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, China, Australia and Hong Kong; and ten percent from Europe. The audience reach exceeds 5,000 every month. Her career experience includes wine on-premise, retail, wholesale, production, travel, journalism, radio hosting and production, television guest appearances, public relations, marketing, judging in the US and abroad, academia, html website maintenance, social media and networking across many platforms. She has sat the international Master of Wine exam twice, with dissertation pass in 1995. She continues to write about wine for local papers and formerly maintained a wine merchant license on the coast of North Carolina where she resides. Chamberlain has served as president of the local Farmer's Market, worked for a local non-profit, and teaches at local community colleges.
