Garage 71 was born in the summer of 2009.
The idea came up when Biker Chef "Big Boy" Brian Whitcomb decided to end his stay with another radio station and focus all his attention on a station that cured all desires: Music, Entertainment and Food. With that said, The Right Reverend Andy came to the station with his collection and knowledge of rockabilly music and garage rock and Garage 71 was born. The station is geared to motorheads, gearheads, hot rodders, greasers, and fans of real rock 'n' roll. Anyone who is inspired by 1950's Americana or of a scene filled with cars, bikes, entertainment and a place to gather is going to be captured by the selection of music on Garage 71. Our mix is carefully selected to bring back the generation hits of yesterday to the most current level of music. Garage 71 supports the underground rock scene and artists. We are always out there in the field meeting and making attempts to support a local music market while providing national and worldwide exposure.
Garage 71 has made some great additions to the line to continue to add depth and a broad collection of music and talent. The Right Reverend Andy created a show dedicated to his passion - rockabilly music - in 2004, gaining himself notoriety in the local and regional music scene. He has become one of the most recognizable voices in rockabilly radio, known for his "rock and roll" approach to broadcasting and irreverent style of presentation - often compared to Wolfman Jack and Alan Freed. You're guaranteed to get deep fried and sanctified Mondays on Psychobilly Freakout!
The Chop House with Jeremy Johnson has been moved to Mondays at 6pm Eastern and features a focus of the "Life-Style" of a rockabilly bike builder. Jeremy Johnson from Mutton Cycles has guests on the show anywhere from tattoo artists, actors and infamous biker legends as he discusses the biker scene and current trends.
RoadKill Side Show joined the station from another radio station as Biker Chef Brian Whitcomb brings his creative Grill Master Flair to any event. Chef Whitcomb is all into local foods and supporting the private tour. He works collectively with Dept. of Ag, Restaurant organizations to the chefs in the field and the local farmer. All this, he brings in an exciting setting where hopefully cooking can be fun and entertaining while he also continues to search for some of the best music to complement his theme.
Adding an edge to the line up, Friday Nights is where you'll find The Junkyard with your host Stretch! The show airs every Friday Night from 8PM to midnight and hails back to the days of the "Headbanger's Ball" with metal bands from the 80's and 90's and today!
Garage 71 radio is a gearhead driven station that enjoys the life we live, the music we hear and the friends we make. Tune in and take a listen and tell your friends. Let us be your co-pilot while kicking life in the ass!
