ANZ Rock! Bringing you Australian and New Zealand music from the 50's to Today. Visit us at ANZRock.com
I’m Jeff Porter, born and bred in Melbourne (Australia) but living as an expat, currently in the USA. I grew up during a very active time for live music in the 1970′s. Saturday afternoons and evenings were often spent at live music venues like the Blackburn Pub, The Village Green, The Burvale...and no doubt some I can't remember. In the summer months it was the lawn at the Sorrento pub on the Mornington Peninsula. Good Times and great Rock and Roll…and maybe a beer or two. My cousins, a few years older than me were more into the Town Hall live music scene at the trailing end of the Bodgie and Widgie movement; Kew, Box Hill, St Kilda all had great live music every Saturday where the music, booze and fights were all intertwined. ANZRock is about those days, the formative times of Rock music before over processing and over commercialization began dominating the music scene. I hope the program brings back some memories for Aussies and Kiwi’s at home and those living and working overseas. ANZRock is also about supporting Australian music; original bands, solo acts, cover bands. We have plans to promote new and evolving artists to our audience of Australian and New Zealand expats.
