Broadcaster Comments
Welcome to "Blasts From The Past." If you love those moldy oldies from the late 50s and early 60s as much as I do, you've come to the right place (yes, I also play some from the mid 50s and late 60s.) "Blasts" has been on the air since January 2003 and the comment I hear most from listeners is "commercial stations where I live don't play the oldies from the late 50's and early 60's." Thanks to Live 365, it is my pleasure to bring you back to that golden era of hula hoops, metal lunch boxes, drive in movies and Winky Dink (you all do remember Winky, don't you?) I play many of the tunes you'll remember along with some you probably have never heard ("flip" sides, "lost" oldies and obscurities.) You'll hear my personal favorite, Dion, along with Connie Francis, the Everly Brothers, Ricky Nelson, Gene Pitney, Paul Anka, Roy Orbison, Bobby Vee and many others. Lots of doo wop here also (Mystics, Elegants, Crests, etc.), the girl groups (Shangri Las, Shirelles, Ronettes, etc.) and, of course, those one-hit wonders! As much as I like to talk (my full time job for many years was selling newspaper advertising), I'm sure you didn't tune in to hear me "gab," so except for the intro, this station is "no talk-just music." I do hope you enjoy the "trivia" included with some of the songs. Most of the trivia comes from my favorite music information site, www.allmusic.com. My thanks to all of my dedicated listeners for their continued support and to the many of you from all around the world for the great emails you send me - it is greatly appreciated - keep them coming. Thank you for helping me keep the music alive. Take care, Dennis.
