Another successful Return To Forever concert has come and gone from the Dallas area. 2008 was their first tour since the late 1970's, featuring Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Lenny White and Al Di Meola. But the 2011 tour promises to eclipse the 2008 one featuring the core members, Chick, Stanley and Lenny, but with Frank Gambale on guitars and Jean Luc Ponty on violin for this go around. But what truly set this tour apart from its 2008 counterpart was Dweezil Zappa opening for RTF, on his Zappa Plays Zappa tour! Staying true to his father's music, Dweezil and his band put on a performance not soon to be forgotten. And on top of that, he's a genuinely nice guy! While the stage hands were tearing down his set, he signed autographs and took photos until all walked away satisfied! As for RTF's performance, what can I say, phenomenal as always. And to watch Frank Gambale play the guitar was a sight to behold. All in all, a great way to spend a birthday, made all the better with backstage passes.
This weeks featured Ariel Publicity indie artists are Ian Narcisi, The Shining Skulls, Sigurdur Eyberg, The Kobolds, Moochie Mac & Superfriends and Hudson K.
Besides the new additions, the following indie artists are currently in play: Thelonious Dub, Sokoband, Mekaal Hasan, Salman Ahmad, NuShooz Orchestra, Jamie Mallender, Patrick Yandall, 19 A.D.D., Project 7, Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats, Agah Bahari, Apple Pie, Joshua Stedman, Marcus Williams, Megaphone, Adam Holzman, Gordon Stone, Portal, Underwhelmed, Spy For Hire, Brian Tarquin, John Huldt, Lindsey Boullt, Kelly Richey Band, Tiedye Keith, Technical Info, Joe Deninzon, and many others.
