About J. Jafri

I have been a huge fan of progressive free form radio since I was fifteen years old when I became a convert from top 40 radio. The best radio station that I have heard is CHUM FM in Toronto as it was from the time it went free form underground till about 1975. After this time it devolved into a mainstream album orientated format. I also enjoyed other area radio stations with a similar format. There's no such station here in Toronto right now and so I'm trying to fill the void with my station which is in tribute to my favorite radio format. What I enjoyed the most about the original underground free form format was the quality of the music and the huge variety and the surprise factor. You never knew what you would hear next . All of this was delivered by announcers who were knowledgeable about the music and who brought their own personality into the mix.
