About Kathy

Kathy Ayson a.k.a. Kathy Llamas....Yes it's me! Broadcasting has been my life... Having majored in Broadcast Communications in college, I have worked in various radio stations in Manila, California and Florida. My passion has always been to share as much of my roots with the rest of the world through the medium of broadcasting and using the universal language of music. I like to listen to all types of musical genres...pop, classical, dance, R&B, rock...you name it. I can appreciate music which crosses cultural lines too like Filipino, English and Spanish. In 1995, I started broadcasting worldwide on the internet and have not stopped since. I started with a 2-hour program on WTRR Radio, a local Spanish-format radio station in Orlando which happened to dabble in internet webcasting. Nine years ago, PhilRadio International began its 24/7 broadcasts and the rest is history. My philosophy is to do whatever I enjoy and enjoy whatever I do. If you have enough passion in your life, it will shower you with contentment and financial rewards. I hope I can continue to provide the valuable service of broadcasting worldwide for as long as time allows. Having had the PhilRadio site accessed in excess of 20 million times is one of the achievements I am very proud of. Come and experience the beautiful islands of the Pacific through our music. See you "on the air" !

Realizing the lack of Philippine media outside of the Philippines, PhilRadio International started its internet broadcasting 9 years ago direct from WTRR Radio, a local radio station in Orlando, Florida as a mere 2-hour program. When LIVE 365 was launched, PhilRadio realized the potential of a 24/7 stream and has consistently been one of the most successful stations on LIVE 365. Our goal is to reach as many "wired" Filipinos worldwide as we can through the language of music. Through PhilRadio, we have succeeded in bridging cultural barriers which have enabled us to have listeners from all over the world. Since Filipino music is so eclectic, we decided that PhilRadio International should feature all types of Filipino music from rock to pop to classics and alternative which allows us to be a showcase of Philippine music and artists. And due to the cultural influences in the Philippines, we also play some Spanish and American songs that are quite popular with Filipinos. Mostly, our 24/7 broadcast is comprised of an "all-you-can-eat" fare of Filipino music. But we do have special shows we produce which allow us to focus on a specific genre like Pinoy Rock (Filipino Rock), Pinoy Jazz (Filipino Jazz), Pinoy Folk (Filipino Folk), Mga Kanta ng Lolo Ko (Filipino classics) and Mga Himig ng Pag-ibig (Filipino Love Songs). We feature top Filipino artists such as Gary Valenciano, Lea Salonga, Sharon Cuneta, and up and coming artists like Erik Santos, Sarah Geronimo, Kyla, Rachel Ann Go, and Christian Bautista. We also feature pop groups such as Cueshe, Hale, MYMP, the Eraserheads and Parokya ni Edgar. Other Non-Filipino artists we feature have links to the Philippines such as the Los Panchos and Latin singer Thalia who have both recorded Philippine albums. You'll also hear artists that have crossed over successfully such as Grammy winners The Black Eyed Peas and American Idol finalist Jasmine Trias. PhilRadio has always been a strong supporter of Filipino talent and has helped many new, struggling and indie artists to be heard wolrdwide. You'll hear noted indie talents like the Melancholics, Devotion, J, Mike Swift, Tegancat, Rodney Ronquillo, Ivy Mae Sacris, Sad2B True and a host of others, some of whom you'll hear only on PhilRadio. We hope you will help us spread the word about PhilRadio. Mabuhay!
