This station is devoted to the beautiful, interesting music composed before and after the slice of history (baroque/classical/romantic) covered by your typical broadcast classical station. We also differ from from most classical broadcast stations in that we eschew pretty, non-threatening background music in favor of pieces with strong musical ideas forthrightly expressed. Experimental, atonal modern compositions are included, along with certain types of avant garde music that are hard to assign a specific genre (classical? experimental? electronica? jazz? hard-core ambient? industrial? alternative? noise? glitch?) In addition, the playlist incorporates both classical and modern music from non-Western societies.
