http://rjessbrownjr.com/ for website and radio contributions. http://rjessbrownjr.com/ Creative Images Internet Jazz Radio is dedicated to "Legendary Jazz Promoters, Ellen and John Reese". They both worked "Historically" to bring and expose the Legendary Jazz Masters to Mississippi, throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Their knowledge and personal relationship with these great musicians also helped to boost the careers of musicians from the community such as, Grammy Award Winning Singer Cassandra Wilson, who evolved under their umbrella and guidance. They taught me a lot about this "Great Music", I am proud to say, they are my cousins. Hi, I am Drahcir your broadcaster for Creative Images Internet Radio. The above pic taken at Just Jazz in St. Louis is of Acclaimed Bassist, Buster Williams with friend and owner of Creative Images Internet Radio Station, Original Bassist for the 8 Bold Souls of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, R. Jess Brown, Jr. Brown designed Buster's Bass Bib, as you can see on his bass. I would like the pleasure to tell you about our station owner Richard Jess Brown, Jr. Let me start by saying that he is a professional musician, the son of a legendary attorney and well respected educator. At age 14, Mr. Brown was the only person chosen to represent Mississippi in a European tour with an international orchestra sponsored by the Universal Academy of Music in Princeton. He became a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra at age 19. He was chosen to perform in the Chicago Civic Orchestra, training orchestra for the Chicago Symphony. He has performed with members of the Chicago Symphony, the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago and others. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Knitting Factory in New York and the White House by special invitation of the President of the United States in 1971. He has traveled throughout Europe, Japan, South America, Alaska, Cuba, Mexico, Central America and the Panama Canal as a cruise ship musician. He has performed many Jazz concerts with such greats as Ella Fitzgerald, Pearl Bailey, Eddie Harris, Gary Bartz, Freddie Hubbard, Ellis Marsalis and family members. He was with Kent Jordan on a C.B.S. record tour that opened for Wynton Marsalis. He has performed in Italy with Grammy Award Winning Vocalist, Cassandra Wilson and has recorded on her record label (Ojah Records). He is an original member of Ed Wilkerson's internationally acclaimed 8 Bold Souls, having recorded their first Album which hit the top ten Jazz charts in 1988. Today that particular album (8 Bold Souls) is a European Import that can be bought on line (see 8 Bold Souls link at rjessbrownjr.com). Mr. Brown holds a Master of Music Degree in classical music from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Memphis. He is also an excellent teacher, having sent students to such music schools as the Eastman Conservatory of Music. He has recently performed the Music of William Grant Still with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra which was aired live on National Public Radio in October,2007. Creative Images radio was created to stimulate the imagination and awareness level of listeners relative to artist that are more esoteric in nature.
