About Rockin' Tess

I'm a music freak with a large collection of music, mostly jazz and blues going back about 46 years. I grew up in London, UK and started going to clubs when I was just 14 and seeing artists like Eric Clapton, John Mayall, Georgie Fame, Manfred Mann and many others in their early days. I also saw many of the great American bluesmen like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Sonny Boy Williamson when they toured the UK so I got a taste for the music at a young age! I've been a DJ on a local station for about 9 years now and thought it was time to bring the music I enjoy to the world! On this station Blues Groove I'm concentrating more on contemporary blues but you might find a few oldies in there too and some more jazzy and R & B tunes. You'll hear music from the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. There's a bit of 50's jump blues in the mix. There are also some of the British bands I grew up listening to and modern tunes that I think may become classics one day! Hope you enjoy the tunes as much as I do! I'm always keen to get feedback but I try to gage which tunes are popular by listener ratings so if you really like a tune don't forget to give the thumbs up! Listener favourites are published at the end of each month on the Facebook page.!/pages/Bluesgroove-Online-Radio/114027198651490

I am a DJ on local radio BBB FM where I've presented blues and other programmes for ten years or so and each week I post segments from my programme on the playlist. They come up at random times. I am also on Radio Adelaide presenting Primetime Jazz and Saturday Blues once a month. This is Ausralia's longest running blues programme! The music comes from my own collection going back to the when I started collecting music in 1962 right up to current contemporary blues! I grew up in London, UK in the 60's when the blues scene was thriving and got to see many of the great American artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Freddie King and John Lee Hooker playing live. I also followed many of the British bands popular at the time like John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, the original Fleetwood Mac, Georgie Fame and the Blues Flames, Brian Auger Trinity, Manfred Mann and Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds so you will hear some rare recordings by these artists taken from my old vinyl collection. I'm a particular fan of Hammond B3 organ so lots of music I play features organ! As an FM DJ I like to keep right up to date but never forget my old favourites! Enjoy and if you like a tune make sure you rate it!! I'm always open to requests and suggestions but I try to find music that other stations don't feature so much. Some of it is pushing the boundaries of blues but I believe the music has to evolve. If you dig groovy blues with a touch of jazz then tune in! Check out the listener favourites and station news each month on the Facebook page! If you'd like to be on my mailing list and receive a monthly station update please contact me via this page!
