Marshall Mcluhan was talking about the print media when he said "they slip into it like a warm bath , but I think the principle of allowing a medium to wash over you and immerse you in its message rather than simply pummel your stimuli with jarring messages. The greats of The Golden Age of Radio knew how to gently stimulate their listeners with a steady stream of mind soothing music and spoken word. Allowing the listener to slip into a warm bath of invigorating pleasure. I think growing up in the Eighties, a time of fast food music that tried to drown your soul, rather than bath it helped me appreciate the music and radio programs of the thirties, forties and fifties. My favourite drama from this era is "Yours Truly Johnny Dollar". The writing and acting was top notch and so I dedicated my entire program list to this timeless jewel.
