In the documentary 'Appalachia', which I saw on either PBS or the History channel I can't remember which, the narrator (Mr. Achy Breaky heart himself) said something like 'country music has its roots in the English and Scottish folk songs immigrants brought to Appalachia' (they should have added Irish as well). That's the philosophy of this station, playing souped up English, Celtic and American folk music and some types of the country music that it gave birth to.
